Hanna is Currently Obsessed With...

...Jemaine Clement.

You may recognize him as one-half of New Zealand's fourth-most-popular folk group, the Flight of the Conchords.  I may have created a monster when I let my 15-year-old niece watch the entire second season of the now-over HBO show on my iTouch when we went to Mexico.  In January.  2010.

Well, I was somewhere in Brazil when I got a series of Skype messages from her.  "Hey Kady, have you ever heard of The Tongan Ninja?"  "Hey Kady, have you seen Rio?"  "Hey Kady, did you know Jemaine Clement is the voice of the evil villain bird in Rio?"  "Hey Kady, did you like Rio?"  "Hey Kady, what did you think of Jemaine Clement's voice in Rio?"  "Hey Kady, did you know Jemaine Clement is going to be in Men in Black 3?"  "Hey Kady, do you think Jemaine Clement is cute?"  "Hey Kady, WHY do you think he's cute?"  "Hey Kady, go on You Tube and search for The Tongan Ninja and watch the credits video."  "Hey Kady, did you watch that video yet?"  "Hey Kady, do you think I would like New Zealand?"  "Hey Kady, what DON'T you like about Jemaine Clement?"  "Hey Kady, what DO you like about Jemaine Clement?"  "Hey Kady, if you could change one thing to make Jemaine Clement cuter, what would it be?"  "Hey Kady, have you seen that video yet?"

Unfortunately for me, I couldn't ever get good internet and so I kept having to field questions, and Hanna grew very impatient because I was unable to watch the video.  I actually started getting IRRITATED at her questions.  When I finally FINALLY got good internet weeks later, this is what I saw:

And then, when I could finally shut her up and say YAH, I SAW THE VIDEO.  Then it was, "Hey Kady?  Did you like the video?"  "Hey Kady, when you finally saw the video, were you thinking, 'that was awesome'?  Or were you like, 'man, she bugged me to watch this stupid video'?"  "Hey Kady, did you like the dancing in the video?"  "Hey Kady, did you like the song in the video?  Did you know he wrote it?"

Awesome.  We are currently waiting for my mom to change her Netflix account, so that we can receive DVDs in the mail again, so that The Tongan Ninja can arrive in my mom's mailbox, so I can give Hanna a detailed report about what I liked about his character, Action Fighter, and every emotion I encountered during each scene in the movie.  And if I don't experience any emotions, why didn't I experience any emotions?  What do I think I could do differently to experience any emotions?  How might Jemaine Clement improve his appearance to make me experience emotions?

Tonight, she's staying with me in my room at my parents' place.  We were laying in bed...in silence, and suddenly...

"Hey Kady...when do you think Grandma will fix her Netflix account?"

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  3. I love him too! I was obsessed with the show a few years ago. I think Jemaine Clement is the funniest guy in the world. I think he won my heart during the episode when Bret said he was the rhymnocerous and Jemaine said he was the hiphopopotomus. What is your favorite episode, Katy? What do you like about it?

  5. For everybody out there - My last comment was an inside joke. Before beginning to pester the heck out of Kady, Hanna asked me all those questions until I went insane. When Hanna told Kady that I told her I didn't like Jemaine (in response to 30,000 questions about whether I did or not) Kady's response was, "You're mom's opinionated." I didn't even WANT TO HAVE AN OPINION about Jemaine Clement!!!!! Welcome to the club, Kady.

  8. Awesome. I'm sure Jemaine would love to meet his greatest fan.

BTW, your "Where I've Been" map doesn't show that you've been to Bolivia. Considering how amazing your experience there was, I'm sure you'll want to update for posterity and nostalgia.

  9. And this one...
During a particularly trying day, being crabby and short with everyone and rushing to get things done, I hear, "Hey mom, I suppose this isn't a good time for me to show you another Jemaine Clement video clip."

  10. I was reading this post and Grandpa Hal asked what I was laughing about and I told him Kady's blog so he asked what she had blogged about. I told him it was about a guy I had a crush on and I showed him the post and said, "Isn't he cute?" And he said, "Oh my gosh he's beautiful!" And I laughed so hard!

  16. ...I should also mention:

    Hanna admitted:
"I only mention Jemaine Clement to you a FRACTION of the time that I'm thinking about him. I stop myself from mentioning him more than half the time."

  17. Okay, now you got me obsessing over Jemaine Clement again. I had a dream about him last night. I had a jeep and I flipped it on it's side by running over a curb in Jemaine's yard and he helped me turn it back on it's wheels and then we made some dinner and talked and talked. It was the best date I've been on in ages. I LOVE the last picture on this post. I love every single thing about it.
